Mr. Steven Oliver graduated from the University of Houston in May 2018 with a B.S. in Physics and is the founding Radiation Coordinator for the UH High-Altitude Student Platform (HASP) research group, a member of the Presidential Advisory Council and founding Webmaster for the Astronomy Society at UH (ASUH). Mr. Oliver also worked with the UH STEM Center, has been a Webmaster for the UH Society of Physics Students (SPS) Chapter, was awarded a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship, and has presented his research at local conferences and STEM outreach events. Since graduation, he has continued his work with the UH HASP team by developing SORA 2.0: The Stratospheric Organisms and Radiation Analyzer Payload. In addition to developing SORA 2.0, the HASP team is currently working on a publication regarding the construction and execution of the radiation subsystem for the original SORA payload and SORA 2.0. The publication will describe the novel use of a Raspberry Pi to handle the MiniPIX and TimePIX (radiation detectors) and the methods used to analyze the 2017 & 2018 flight data. Mr. Oliver completed the Master’s in Space Studies at Rice University, with a focus in Engineering, and after an internship with Airbus, he was hired on as a full-time employee.
