Mariia Sibrina is an international student from Russia currently pursuing a Professional Master’s
in Space Studies Program at Rice University. She graduated from Lomonosov Institute of Fine
Chemical Technologies in Moscow in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry.
For 1.5 years, she worked at the Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry,
where she conducted geochemical research on lunar meteorites, their analogs, terrestrial samples
of extraterrestrial origin (irgizites and zhamanshinites), and their elemental composition. Her
work involved utilizing inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and other chemical and
physical methods of analysis. Driven by a desire to connect her expertise in chemistry with the
space industry, Mariia joined Rice University’s program to gain theoretical and practical
knowledge in physics and space engineering. She aims to leverage her background in chemistry
and the skills gained from this program to pursue a successful career in the space industry.
