Amanda Humphrey

Ms. Humphrey graduated from Rice University in 2007 with a B.S. in Chemistry with American Chemical Society certification. While an undergraduate at Rice, she worked as a research assistant in the lab of Dr. Eugene Zubarev, functionalizing gold nanoparticles for self-assembly. After graduation, Ms. Humphrey taught science for seven years at Cypress Falls High School in Houston, Texas. Among the subjects she taught were Integrated Physics and Chemistry, Chemistry Honors, Advanced-Placement Chemistry, and Forensic Science. During her seven years of teaching, she became more interested in the multi-disciplinary field of astrobiology, the emerging commercial space marketplace, and the operations of NASA and the International Space Station. She is currently enrolled in the Professional Science Master's program in Space Studies with the desire to obtain a meaningful career in the space industry. She is interning with Jacobs Engineering in Clear Lake. After graduation, she secured a full-time positon with Lockheed Martin.
