Mackenzie A. Jones is a 2020 Baylor University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Premedical Tract). As a highly driven, motivated, and ambitious individual, Mackenzie engaged in numerous internships and clinical experiences. Mackenzie has been a Neurology and Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) researcher under Dr. Eseosa Ighodaro M.D., PhD, where she coauthored publications in MedPage Today and twice through McGraw Hill focusing on the systemic implications of racial biases in medical education and healthcare practices. In addition, Mackenzie has worked with Hennepin County Medical Center, a level 1 trauma hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she not only interned with the Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, Dr. Allyson Brotherson, M.D. since 2015, but also worked as an Emergency Department/Internal Medicine Scribe since 2022. She also interned at John’s Hopkins Affiliate, Hospital Punta Pacifica in Panama City, Panama refining her medical Spanish skills and building her medical competencies working in the Emergency Department. Obtaining a Masters in Bioscience and Health Policy is the next step in propelling Mackenzie towards a career in medicine, where she hopes to specialize in Emergency Medicine, Trauma Surgery, or Pediatric Emergency Medicine while tackling the sociological and psychological factors affecting the health and wellness of at-risk populations. A couple fun facts about Mackenzie: She starred in one of the Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) Emmy Award winning show “SciGirls” in 2010; she is a trained classical pianist; she enjoys drawing and painting portraits; and she adores quality time with her family and fiancé.
