Ms. Lau graduated from Rice in 2013 with a B.A. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology and Policy Studies. During her undergraduate career at Rice, she researched wound and defense responses of Arabidopsis Thaliana. She also researched the effects of drugs on heart cell repair after myocardial infarction at Baylor College of Medicine. During the summers, she worked at Janssen Pharmaceuticals, analyzing different phosphopeptide enrichment techniques via mass spectrometry in proteomics. She is now enrolled in the Bioscience and Health Policy program to gain more in-depth knowledge on making health policy. This will allow her to use her extensive scientific and health management and policy-making background to embark in a career in science and health policy. Krystal secured a fellowship with OFUR/RICE in London and conducted her internship at the Imperial College of London. After completion of her degree at Rice, she decided to pursue a PhD at the Imperial College.
