Zane Bey is pursuing his Professional Master’s in Energy Geoscience to grow his knowledge and technical skills in the exploration and development of energy resources. He was part of a geoscience team awarded 3rd place in the 2025 Imperial Barrel Award competition representing Rice University, while analyzing petroleum datasets and assessing the development potential of a hydrocarbon exploration project in the Alaskan Bristol Bay region. He has participated in the comprehensive process of oil and gas exploration as an intern at Bowersox Exploration, LLC, working on geologic mapping and interpretation, land leases, funding prospects, drilling operations, logging and coring. Additionally, he is currently editing the SIPES Houston monthly newsletter. Zane graduated Tulane University with a B.S. in Geology in May 2024. During his undergraduate studies he participated in a Geological Society of America GeoCorps internship at the Bureau of Land Management’s Carlsbad, New Mexico field office. This experience provided valuable interdisciplinary field work in the Permian Basin related to natural resource and land management. He also served as part of a team at Tulane University researching mass wasting on Venus using synthetic aperture radar and GIS technologies.
