Bernard Sim graduated Magna Cum Laude from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 2014 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. While at NTU, he worked alongside Dr Holden Li and Dr Tan Say Hwa to publish a journal in Microfluidics which explores a new and novel idea of the use of an elastic magnetic membrane for improved mixing in microwells. The research published had a very successful outcome, which showed the feasible use of magnetic membranes for agitation in microwells, which could be further applied in many different applications in Microfluidics. After graduation, he went on to pursue a career in Oil & Gas with ExxonMobil Asia Pacific for 9 years. There, he took on roles in supply chain management as well as plant maintenance to develop operational knowledge of the business and after which, he went on to commercial roles such as business enablement and sales, to take on the front lines in revenue generating activities. Bernard strives to be a leader in the energy industry especially in energy transition, as more needs to be done to protect our earth resources and environment. Hence, he is now pursuing a Masters in Energy Geoscience specializing in energy transition, in order to contribute to this field and lead in taking on energy challenges in the future.
