Rice University's 5th Year Master's

Next Steps After Admission:

Registering for Classes: Please be advised that all Rice undergraduates, regardless of their planned start term, concurrently enrolled in a graduate program must submit an "Undergraduate Student in Graduate Program Special Registration Request” form as part of your registration process each semester to designate courses that will count toward the graduate degree. The completed form should be submitted to the Office of the Registrar as soon as possible once registration is open, but no later than the Friday of the second week of courses for each term you are concurrently enrolled.

Request to Apply Undergraduate Coursework to Graduate Program: If you have not already done so, at this time you must also submit a separate form for all courses that you have previously taken toward your graduate degree while an undergraduate. This form is titled "Request to Apply Undergraduate Coursework to Graduate Program."

While concurrently enrolled in a graduate program, Rice undergraduates are required to maintain enrollment in no fewer than twelve credit hours of study to count toward the undergraduate degree and no more than six hours of study to count toward the graduate degree.  By default all courses for which undergraduate students enroll carry a UG level and will count toward the undergraduate degree - regardless of the course number.
