Mr. Daniel Jennings graduated from the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus, in 2022 with a BSc in Computer Science and a Minor in Energy and Environmental Physics, and in 2025 with an MSc in Data Science. Daniel, in addition to making the Dean’s Honour Roll and winning several awards for academic performance, received an Emerging Leaders of the Americas Program Scholarship, which allowed him to be an exchange student at the University of Guelph in Canada. During his tenure at UWI, Daniel was a part of the Climate Studies Research Group Mona (CGSM). He worked on the centralization of several climate tools in a central web platform, as well as the reconfiguration and visualization of all climate tools involved. He was principally involved in the creation of the Simple Model for Advection of Storms and Hurricanes (SMASH), enhancing resolution by 60% and speed by 40%. With his team, he created a web platform from the inception of the concept to the web development and sending to server, creating climate tools for the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC). Daniel also served as a research intern at the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH), and with them, he worked on a graduate-level project using machine learning techniques to conduct pixel-wise inference and plastic proxy detection in the Caribbean and the Western Atlantic Ocean using Copernicus Sentinel-2 Satellite Data. Daniel is also a Fulbright Scholar to Rice University, and has chosen to enrol in the PSM in Environmental Analysis to further his career in Sustainability Data and Computational Science.
