Joanna Moy graduated in 2021 from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Neuroscience. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she conducted research on intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cell (ipRGC) resistance to ocular neurodegeneration in glaucoma, which culminated in a thesis and journal publication. Afterwards, she managed the growth of cell lines used for both clinical and validation oncological molecular diagnostic testing at MD Anderson Cancer Center. These cross-disciplinary experiences cultivated particular strengths in wet lab techniques, image analysis and data analysis. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Joanna developed a passion for pharmaceutical and skincare formulation and product development, leading her to enroll in Rice University’s Professional MS Program in Analytical Chemical Sciences. During her time at Rice, she hopes to continue to enhance her scientific expertise as well as develop her management skills and business acumen for future career challenges.
