Ms. Johnson graduated from Texas Lutheran University in 2015 with a B.S. in Biology with an environmental specialization. Her senior thesis focused on quantifying the biodiversity of an ecosystem overrun by an invasive species. While at TLU, Sawyer spent a summer as a research assistant, collecting and processing plant specimens in order to track plant populations in and around the Seguin, Texas area. She wanted to follow her passion for environmental sustainability by continuing her studies in the Environmental Analysis and Decision Making program with a focus on Environmental Sustainability at Rice University. However, life interfered and she had to put off her studies. We hope to welcome her back soon!
Mr. Pederson graduated from Trinity University in 2015 with a B.S. in Engineering Science with a focus in Mechanical Engineering and minors in Physics and Mathematics. Mr. Pederson holds an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification in the state of Texas. His senior capstone involved designing and producing hardware to turn a standard vinyl property-line fence into a water retention tank. This project fueled his interest in sustainability and environmental issues. John is interested in urban planning, LEED certification, and the interaction between buildings and their surroundings. After graduation, John has pursed his PhD.
Mr. Moore graduated from Wofford College in 2013 with a B.S. in Chemistry and Mathematics, and a B.A. in German. Selected as Wofford College’s Presidential International Scholar, he designed and implemented an independent research project studying the development of renewable energy sources in South America during his senior year. He has internship experience in chemistry and nuclear forensics from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory, and the Nuclear Chemistry Department at the Johannes-‐Gutenberg Universität in Mainz, Germany. David recently completed a Fulbright grant in South Korea for the 2014-2015 academic year, and is now pursuing a Professional Science Master’s degree in Environmental Analysis and Decision Making with a focus in management and policy. He aspires to develop and implement sustainable energy solutions in an international business setting. David secured an internship with Cheniere Energy. After graduation, he secured full-time employment with Element Markets.
Mr. Ly received his BS in Geological Engineering in 2004 from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru. He has gained work experience with APEXploration and Rio Tinto Exploration in Lima, Peru before joining Barrick Gold Corporation in the U.S. as a Senior Geologist. Alejandro focused on improving his understanding on ore controllers, mineralization, and ore characterization with objective to develop robust drill exploration targets. The proudest moment in his career has been as the co-discoverer and developer of the world class Goldrush Gold deposit in Nevada, USA. For this he received the 2014 Thayer Lindsley Award at the PDAC event in Toronto, Canada. He joined the Environmental Analysis and Decision Making degree program with the goal to develop a new set of skills in the field of environmental sciences, analytics and management. Alejandro is bilingual in
Ms. Chandran graduated from BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore, India with a degree in chemical engineering. She started her career with Chemtex Consulting as a Process Engineer and was primarily involved in the engineering design of polymer plants. She subsequently worked as a Process Engineer for Amec Foster Wheeler India and was involved in the execution of Front End Engineering Design projects for clients in the energy sector. She is enrolled in the EADM track and finds the wide and unique mix of courses ranging from Statistics to Energy Policy truly fascinating. She endeavors to work either in the vibrant energy industry or in the field of environmental or energy consulting. Divya interened at Cams eSparc LLC. After graduation, she secured a full-time postion with HUCO Consulting.
Mr. Shah graduated with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering from Gujurat Technological University in 2014 in India. His final year project there focused on removal of Fluoride salts from brackish water via Silica Aerogel nanocrystals. After graduation, he joined a consulting company as an environmental engineer where he assisted the project engineer with tendering and design of a sewage treatment plant. Ankur found the interdisciplinary curriculum of the Environmental Analysis program at Rice very exciting as it offers an interdisciplinary curriculum with courses in management, business, sustainability and statistics. His goal is to develop new skills in energy & environmental analysis, computing and gain leadership experience. Ankur gained working experience with internships at H2O Midstream, participation at the Petro Challenge, leadership of the RUNPSMA Student Chapter, and academic research project under Dr. Stadler. Ankur aspires to join the energy or environmental consulting industry after graduation.
