Ms. Rios Rivera received her bachelor of science degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad de las Americas Puebla in Puebla, Mexico in 2007. At her university, Esther participated in a thesis project related to water contamination, conducting abundant laboratory research and data evaluation. Esther chose the Rice PSM program to expand her background in civil engineering towards the environmental field with the goal to work in the environmental consulting business after graduation. Esther accepted an internship with Chevron's Government Relations department and accepted a research position under Amy Jaffe, Associate Director of the Rice Energy Program. Esther accepted an employment offer from Gamesa, Inc. Esther moved on in 2013 is now working as a management consultant for Arthur D. Little specializing in oil and gas for Latin America.In 2016, Esther accepted a new position with Navigant as Managing Consultant.
Ms. Mohanan graduated from the Peoples Education Society, Institute of Technology in Bangladore, India with a bachelor of engineering in Biotechnology in 2009. Reshmy not only participated in many environmental field trips, but also was active as a volunteer organizing clean-up campaigns and awareness programs throughout her academic life. These activities spurred her interest in enrolling in the EADM track at Rice University to acquire advanced training to be able to help her country to better plan and monitor industry and urban development. She accepted an internship with GSI Environmental and is now working as an Application Engineer for Baker Hughes. Reshmy changed jobs in 2013 accepting employment with Blue Ribbon Technology as a Water Scientist.
Ms. Desai received her bachelor of science degree in Biology from Texas A&M in 2006. Since graduation she has been working for Fluor Corporation’s Health, Safety and Environmental department as a HSE Specialist. This position has piqued her interest in environmental procedures and standards and has inspired her to pursue graduate studies at Rice. By concentrating on environmental management and policy, Shilpi hopes to be able to influence environmental regulations of private companies and work towards more corporate responsibility toward the environment. Shilpi accepted an offer to intern with GSI Environmental and secured full-time employment with ERM. In 2012, Shilpi accepted employment with Shell. In 2015, Shilpi transitioned to work as Environmental Engineer for Nexeo Solutions.
Mr. Campbell received his bachelor of science degree in Economics from Texas A&M in 2008. His international background being raised in Uruguay, speaking Spanish and Portuguese, and proceeding to receive his bachelor’s degree from an American university provides him with a unique international perspective to apply to his graduate studies at Rice University. Chris’ interest has been on management and development of energy resources in an environmentally sustainable manner. He is focusing on Sustainable Development in his studies at Rice University. Chris accepted two internship in 2010, he worked for the City of Houston and then accepted an internship with URS in California for the fall. Chris secured full-time employment with CDM Consulting.
Mr. Mooney graduated from Austin College with a degree in Biology in 2007. After graduation he accepted employment with METCO Environmental Co., a subsidiary of Test America Inc. Brandon has an interest in studying how to reduce the impact of pollution and to learn more about anthropogenic climate change. During his undergrad studies he focused on the potential use of living organism, like algae, to remove carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides from effluent gas streams. He plans to deepen his knowledge at Rice with the goal to be involved in environmental policy and regulation after his graduation.Brandon accepted a governmental internship in Washington, DC and accepted a full-time position with the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
Ms. Srinivasan received her Bachelor’s in Information Technology from Bharathidasan University, India. She was employed in Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., as a System Programmer and Project coordinator. Exposure to Organic Farming Challenges in India, motivated her to enroll in Environmental studies. She hopes the EADM course would equip her with the skills to tackle the Environmental challenges and be a part of the solution to this global crisis. Her Focus is Sustainable Development and she secured an internship with Baker Hughes. She is currently working with Huco Consulting.
Ms. Kathayat graduated from Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, India with a degree in chemical engineering. After graduation, she joined R&D department of United Phosphorous Limited (UPL), an agrochemical manufacturing firm, as a technical executive. Her work mainly involved finding best route of synthesizing an agrochemical with optimum yield and minimum cost and health-safety-environment hazards. She has always been involved in environment-related projects through her voluntary service. But working with pollutant chemicals at UPL, she acquired a deeper sense of environmental responsibility. The EADM studies at Rice allow her to gain clear and in-depth understanding of environmental science,and the management and policy aspects of dealing with environmental issues. She interned with Trinity Consultants in Houston, TX; assisted with the SSPEED Project after graduation and has now accepted employment with Element Markets in their renewable energy and biofuel group. Neha has moved to New York, where her husband has joined the pharmaceutical company Reneneron. She secured employment with Nexant Inc. Energy & Chemicals in White Plains, NY
Mr. McDougal graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Biology in 2007. After graduation he worked for an Environmental Consulting Company, Millennium Science & Engineering. During this time, he had the opportunity to work on many different types of environmental projects including waste water analysis, site analysis, and site remediation. Before entering into Rice’s PSM program, he was working at Eckert and Ziegler Analytics, selling radioactive calibration standards to customers worldwide. John is interested in both the Sustainable Development and Management and Policy focus areas. He secured an internship with Element Markets and has accepted employment with them.
Mr. Banerjee completed his chemical engineering degree at the Institute of Chemical Technology (Mumbai). He worked as an intern at Reliance (Jamnagar) where he used Lean Six Sigma methodology to reduce commissioning time of refinery projects. He also worked at Larsen and Toubro (Mumbai) in their R&D division on upstream and downstream hydrocarbon projects. Major projects included the Vasai East Development Project (Client: ONGC) and the Methanol Plant Revamp Project (Client: RCF India). Aditya also has work experience in areas of Gas to Liquids and Flow Assurance. His goal at Rice is to develop expertise in a systems approach of understanding and evaluating the relative merits of different energy options and solve engineering problems. He intends to focus on energy modeling techniques to solve environmental and financial problems. He participated in an internship with Wood McKenzie, and has accepted employment with them. Recently he was promoted to a managerial position within the company.
Ms. Weintraut graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Ithaca College in 2011. She has valuable experience in the field of mathematics pertaining to environmental issues including resource management, climate change, and energy efficiency. Her passion for sustainability led Megan to pursue a graduate degree in Environmental Analysis and Decision Making. Megan aspires to work in the energy industry after completing her graduate studies, specifically for companies committed to producing sustainable and renewable sources of energy. Megan is working on the SSPEED Project with Jim Blackburn for her internship. She secured a position with AMEC Consulting as GIS Technician in Valdosta, Georgia.
