Ms. Akilbekova graduated from Kazakh National University with a B.S. in Physics in 2007. She is the recipient of the ³Bolashak Scholarship from the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan allowing her to study abroad. Her focus within the Nanoscale Physics track is physics of condensed matter, and to gain more knowledge on optical, electrical and structural characteristics of nanofilms. Dana conducted a three month internship with the Republic Diagnostic Center in Kazakhstan, and is also participating in a research project with Rice's MEMS department. Dana returned to Kazakhstan to pursue a science related career in her country. She has accepted employment as a consultant with Nazarbayev University in their Directorate for Scientific and Technical Projects.
