Mr. Troutman graduated from Florida A&M University with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. As an undergraduate he participated in the NASA Scholars Program, working three summers on projects in NASA’s manned spaceflight programs at Kennedy Space Center and Johnson Space Center. He is currently working as a Systems Engineer at Rolls-Royce Energy Systems, where he is responsible for integration, validation, verification, system design, and product upgrades for aero-derivative gas turbine systems. Prior to working for Rolls-Royce, he worked as an engineer, flight controller and consultant in the manned spaceflight industry for over ten years. He has participated in three missions to the International Space Station as a flight controller and has worked as a consultant to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) in Flight Control Operations for the International Space Station. His interests include innovative nanomaterials, nano-optics, and nano-photonics. He intends to gain a solid foundation in nanoscale physics and apply this education to the incorporation of nanotechnology into new and existing products and systems in both industry and government projects. Brian is attending the program on a part-time basis, and accepted employment with GE Oil & Gas. After graduation, he secured a full-time postion with Lockheed Martin.
