Jigo is a geothermal energy professional in the Philippines taking up Master of Science in Energy Geoscience at Rice under the Fulbright Foreign Student Program. Jigo graduated cum laude with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2011 and topped the Geology Licensure Exam in the same year. He has been working in the geothermal industry for 10 years conducting exploration of geothermal prospects, as well as planning for the development of new and operating geothermal projects. He also attended the United Nations University – Geothermal Training Program in Iceland. With the MS Energy Geoscience program, he intends to expand his scope towards other renewable energy technologies. Jigo also aims to explore renewable energy best practices that can accelerate the development of the remaining abundant renewable energy potential of the Philippines that will help achieve the country’s energy transition goals.
