Ms. Liu received her bachelor of science degree in Biochemistry in 2007 from Sun Yat-sen University in China. She was accepted to the Rice PhD Biochemistry department, however, decided that research was not the career path she wanted to continue to pursue. She was attracted to our program by the interdisciplinary curriculum and the exposure to management and communication training. Her goal is to further increase her knowledge in advanced science and gain experience in business and management. She focused on sustainable development. Carol interned at GIS Environmental in Houston, Texas, but realized that her interest was more into research. She was accepted into a PhD program with Rice's Civil and Environmental Engineering department, and is also working full-time for DNV. In 2013, Ms. Liu joined CAMAC Energy as a reservoir engineer/economist.
